Q. How do I know where to find a book?

The first thing to do is to make sure that you have searched for the book using "Library Search" from the home page.

Second, it is best that you check if the book is available, checked out, renewed, etc... You will need to log into to see this information.

Third, you should look under the book title at "Location."  This will tell you if the book is in the Music Library in Dalton, the Education Library in Sangren, Archives in East Hall on East Campus, Genereal Stacks located throughout Waldo Library, Reference Desk or Stacks on the first floor in Waldo Library, Children's Collection on the second floor in Waldo Library, Microforms on the Lower Level at Waldo Library, etc.  Some books are on permenant reserve behind the Circulation Desk in Waldo Library or oversized and on special sorting shelves in the library.

Then it is important to write down the numbers and letters that follow "Call Number."  This will help those behind the desk pull a book, movie, audio recording, DVD, VHS, etc. if the material you require is found there. If the material is found on the shelves, this will help you to find what you need.  Maps are located throughout the building or you can go to the Reference Desk for a copy of one and can use it to find a book you are looking for.

If you're having trouble, ask an employee at the Reference Desk.
