Q. Is Dissertation Abstracts International different than Dissertations and Theses (ProQuest)? If they are not the same, how do I find DAI?

Dissertations Abstracts International (DAI) is different from ProQuest Dissertations & Theses, although both are "hosted" by ProQuest. DAI contains citations and abstracts only, and ProQuest Dissertations & Theses contains citations, abstracts, and full text. DAI is available in print copy at Waldo Library. Also, if you search our Classic Catalog for the DAI, one of the records displayed provides a link to the online database ProQuest Dissertations & Theses.

The abstract that is available in the online database is the same abstract available in the print copy of DAI. Following is a link to both catalog records, which include a description of each (click on the description tab in the lower part of the record). Note that DAI, in print, has a Part A, and Part B - one for the Humanities and Social Sciences, and one for Sciences and Engineering, so they appear as separate records in the catalog.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can help further.
