Q

I can't seem to get my PC laptop to connect to the University Internet

Everytime I fill out the University wireless registration, it doesn't seem to connect to the internet. It tells me I am already registered.

Answer

Checked what the student was doing and she was neglecting to fill in the MAC address field. Here are the steps to find that for a PC laptop.

1. Go to the Start Menu.
2. Type in RUN in the search box and hit enter.
3. When you get the black command box, type CMD
4. Type ipconfig /all (note the space between the ipconfig and the /all)
and hit enter.
5. Scroll down until you see "Physical address" - you will see a set of numbers and letters that looks like "0A-B1-C2-D3-E4-F5". This is the "MAC Address."
6. Write this set of numbers/letters down.
7. Type this into the MAC address field in the wireless internet registration form in your browser.
8. You should then get a message that tells you that you are registered.
