Answer

The UL do not subscribe to a foundations and grants database.  However, we do have several print resources located at the 1st floor reference desk.

For example, we have The Foundation Directory call number: AS 911 .A2 F65 in Central Reference and The Michigan Foundation Directory call number: HV 98 .M5 M53 in Central Reference.

We have created a subject guide on free resources on the web.  You can visit it here: http://libguides.wmich.edu/quickanswers

From that page, direct the patron to click on the tab that says Grants and Financial Aid.  On the left hand side, there is a list of links to free grant and foundation search websites.

There are other resources on campus. If the patron is faculty, he or she may contact the Office of the Vice President for Research.  They have access to foundations and grants databases. The faculty member can also get help with researching funding opportunities. Direct them to this page:  http://www.wmich.edu/research/funding/databases.html This link also contains a list of free foundation and grant databases.
