Do you have SAE standards in the library? If so, how can I access them?

We do not have the SAE standards in online format through the Library.  We do have SAE standards in hardcopy via the SAE Handbook. We have the 2005 version of the Handbook in the Science Reference collection (near the Science Reference desk) on the lower level of Waldo Library at call number TL151 .S62. We have the following previous editions of the SAE handbook in the general stacks: 1951-1954,1956,1959-1961,1965,1968-1970,1972,1975,1978,1980,1982,1986,

For SAE standards that have been revised since 2005, you will need to place an order in the IHS Standards Expert Database (see the handout and link below).

To check when a standard was revised or updated, you can search the SAE Digital Library.  Note that the SAE standards are NOT in full text in this database.

If you have further questions about engineering standards, please contact the Engineering Librarian Ed Eckel at
