Subject: C. C. Wheeler Collection, Robert Leach Letters
Message: I was wondering if the C. C. Wheeler Collection includes multiple
letters from Robert Leach. You provided me a copy of Robert Leach's April
17, 1865 letter. The reference in the book, My Brave Mechanics: The First
Michigan Engineers and Their Civil War page 424 states "C. C. Wheeler
Collection, Western Michigan University Archives and Regional History
Collections (unless otherwise noted, all letters from Leach are in this
collection)". This seems to indicate there are more than the April 17, 1865
letter referenced in the book.

If there are multiple letters from Robert Leach in the C. C. Wheeler
Collection, I would like to request copies of them. Digital is fine. Robert
Leach is my 3X Great Grandfather and served in the Civil War from September
1864 to June 1865.

Thank you SO MUCH for your assistance. You office has already been so
helpful in my research of my family member's service.

Hi Scott,

What we have in the C.C. Wheeler Collection are photocopies of Civil War letters written by John C. Wheeler dated September 3, 1864, and Robert Leach dated April 17, 1865, both of the Michigan 1st. Engineers and Mechanics, Company K, and comment on the surrender of Lee and Johnston.

Those you already have.

Best regards,

Khanh Hoang
